Believing Vs Knowing

I read the Book the Christian Atheist. this book will kick you butt. It is a giant mirror that we all need to look at.

According  to the book a recent Gallop poll. 94 percent of Americans believe in God or a universal spirit. However if you look at the scripture its clear nowhere near 94 percent KNOW God – intimately.

I don’t think we did this on purpose. We found Christ, and got all caught up in God. Then we had families, jobs, careers, bills, etc We went form being full-time Christians to part-time. In some cases no time Christians.

Jeremiah 29:13  “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

Acts 17: 27 “God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.”

1 John 2: 3-4 ” 3 We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. 4 Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person.”

James 2:19 says that even the Demons believe in God and shudder.

God is interested not only in our actions but also in our hearts—in particular, our attitude toward him. Do our good works overflow from knowing him? Or do we live as though God is simply watching and checking our accomplishments off some heavenly to-do list? Did you get a star for going to church? Being nice? Giving money to charity? Some of us try to earn God’s acceptance without truly knowing his heart. And after life is over, Jesus will say to such individuals, “You wanted no part of a relationship with me. Go away.” Matt. 7:21 – 23.

The Bible Says over and over and over. If you seek him you will find him. A vibrant an INTIMATE relationship with God will empower you to heal the hurt from your past, to help you forgive the unforgivable, and to change what seems unchangeable.

flattr this!
